With the Island coming out in a couple of days and as we've had plenty of content since the last theme I thought I'd pull my finger out and make a new one.

535 downloads of v1.4 Thank You.

You can rate the theme by clicking here.

I have removed 4 of the backgrounds and replaced them with new ones. I've also added a new Icon for the Power Save menu option.

Any questions, suggestions and criticism are welcome.

Changes
v1.0: Initial Release
v1.1: Sound added
v1.2: Sound removed due to problems, 2 new backgrounds added
v1.3: Sound added, 5 new Backgrounds, 11 backgrounds in total
v1.4: Sounds removed, Icons for Power Off, Music Track Playing, Trophies and Search Internet added, 5 new Backgrounds, 16 in total.
v1.5: 4 Backgrounds removed, 4 new Backgrounds added,

FAQ:
Q. How do I download it from my PC/Laptop?
A. You'll have to put it onto a USB device in the following directories. Storage Device -> PS3 -> THEME -> Burnout Paradise.p3t
Then on your PS3 go to Settings -> Theme Settings -> Theme -> Install

Q. Can I download it directly to my PS3?
A. Yes you can, just click on the image at the top of the post.

Q. How do I create a theme of my own?
A.If you want to create your very own PS3 Theme, be it of Burnout or anything else then read on and I'll tell you how.

What do you need?
PS3ThemeBuilder v2.5 from here
A graphics editing program would also be very useful.

Install PS3ThemeBuilder v2.5 and then install the update. Once done to use the program simply open the file called 'PS3ThemeManager'

This will then load up the interface that will allow you to create your theme.

What do we have here?
At the top for the Toolbar Menu Options we have File and Help.

The Tabs are what is important.

Theme Information
Theme Icon & Author Icon are the 2 small pictures you see when you go to Themes in the XMB.
Language, just leave it what it's set to.
Text Entry areas, it is up to you what you put in those.
Generate Preview, this give you a look at how your theme will look. Test Drive is a much better option though.

Icons, Colors, Fonts
This is pretty straight forward, you have Main Menu Icons at the top and Sub-Menu Icons below.
Choose the option you want to add a picture to and click Browse.

Backgrounds
This bit confussed me a little the first time.
Firstly HD backgrounds are 1920x1080 and SD are 640x480 you need to have both HD and SD pictures for it to build the theme.
Click 'Add a New Background Set' and then browse for HD Background and SD Background.
You don't need to create a Set for HD and SD and they both fall into one set.

Additional Commands
This is where you can add sounds to your theme.
Download MFAudio v1.1 from here
You can only convert from .wma format so convert it from whatever format you're Audio file is to WMA.

Unzip and run MFAudio.exe
Click Open and choose the audio file.
At the bottom half of the window in the Output Audio file section choose VAG from the drop down menu, click Save As, name i and then click on Proceed.

Test Drive
This is a great little feature that allows you to see what your theme looks like.

Build Theme
When you are happy or just want to do a test run on your own PS3 click this option. A command prompt box will appear and it will convert all your image files to gim and create the p3t file which is your Theme.

Credit & Thanks:
Thanks to lili-chan.com for making the PS3 Theme Builder. Thanks to OperationBurnout.com and CriterionGames.com for all the images used and thanks to all those who have downloaded the theme and have given me feedback on it. Now last but certainly not least, I want to thank everyone at Criterion for making such a brilliant game.

If you want to add this to your downloads section you can do.

Do you have a HD TV or a Widescreen TV? if not then you'll be seeing the 680x400 version not the 1280x1080 version.

The Theme Builder I use allows me to create a background for both 16:9 and 4:3 TV's, I have tried to make the backgrounds look good and not cut out too much of the 'action', sadly there's no room for the side pics to go anywhere as they would take up way too much space and would make using the XMB very difficult.

OK
We'll Troubleshoot then

Do you have a widescreen HDTV?
Have you got a HDMI/Component HD Cable plugged into the TV from the PS3?
Is your PS3 set up to display a HD signal onto your TV? Settings -> Display Settings -> Video Output Settings -> Select Connector (HDMI or Component)
If already set to HD is the TV Type in Video Output Settings at 16:9 or 4:3?

More info on changing the Video/Display Settings can be found here.

Ahh so THIS is where it comes from! Downloaded this and didn't know of it's origins. I see you had sounds in the theme, but removed them. I'm curious as to what those sounds were. Were they actual menu sounds from the game? I can record those if you want to use 'em (unless the original menu sounds were already those sounds, in which case you removed them for a reason).

They were sounds from the Fan Pack. You can add sounds for the following 'actions' that take place on the XMB: Question, Cancel, OK and Cursor. I was going to do 2 Theme's, one with the sounds and one without but the ThemeBuilder kept throwing up an error when creating the .p3t file when I had the sounds in. That's why they were removed in update 1.4 and yet to return, they were also removed earlier but that was because white noise was played instead of the sound, I needed to tweak the audio to get it to work.
